Let’s flip the digital divide on its head

We need equitable tech, or no tech at all

Who will build the pedestrian bridge to cross the digital divide?

Technology is more powerful than ever before

New tools and platforms are changing society and the courses of our lives like no other time in history. We know that the digital divide and workforce automation threaten worsening racial and gender inequality.

That’s why we need equity more than ever before

As technology plays more and more of a role in our schools, our workplaces, and our governments, we must demand that it specifically:

  • increases access to power to those with the least power
  • centers marginalized and impacted constituencies first, and
  • ensures a fair playing field of opportunity for all

You can’t be neutral on a moving train.

Because we are already in such a digital divide, if you are building technology you are rowing upstream: our work must either intentionally bring us closer to equity, or else it will inevitably take us further away from it.
