“A new day is on the horizon.”

With these words, delivered as she accepted a lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes, Oprah optimistically captioned our national conversation about harassment and discrimination. As people across industries and geographies share their stories, we’re confronted with an almost-daily reminder of how much work remains to be done.

While many companies are responding by revisiting compliance policies and ensuring harassment training is up to date, others are asking a fundamentally different question: how do we build an organization where employees from all backgrounds can thrive?

Of course, building such an organization requires creating a culture where harassment and discrimination are less likely to happen, and where they’re addressed swiftly and effectively when they do. But it demands much more.

We’re optimistic that 2018 will be the year organizations turn ambition into action, and we’re invested in growing our team and expanding our services to help drive that change. We have big plans for the year, and we’re particularly excited to share today the opening of a new Paradigm office in Chicago. We’re thrilled to be expanding our work and bringing our proactive, data-driven, and evidence-based approach to organizations across the Midwest. Chicago in particular offers an exciting blend of tradition and innovation. Our existing Chicago clients range from fast-growing startups to hundred-year-old consumer packaged goods companies. We work with ad agencies and venture funds.

Erin, looking excited to open our Chicago office!

Managing the Chicago office will be our newest Partner, Erin Thomas, PhD. Erin is an award-winning diversity researcher, and brings a distinct mix of research expertise and applied practitioner experience to her work. Before joining Paradigm Erin led the Diversity and Inclusion teams at Grant Thornton LLP and the US Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory. We’re so lucky to have her.

We’re looking forward to an impactful year, and, soon, a new day.
