Day 1: We set off today. Melchior saw the star three days ago, but our journey began today. My camel, Luo, is strong. I spent all that I had left on him, after I bought the frankincense, of course. We managed to get a good distance, and Balthazar has some excellent jokes.

Day 2: We camped under the stars. Luo’s soft snoring was a comfort to me, and I slept soundly. I am expecting there to be many more nights of camping before we reach our destination.

Day 7: This is quite an adventure. I have never been this far from home before. The star moves West. Melchior is sure it is the sign of a King. For such a star, I think it must be a God. Balthazar, funny as he is, predicts a sad ending.

Day 16: It has been more than two weeks, and still the landscape seems never ending. Yesterday, we saw mountains in the distance. In a week or two they should be before us. I do not know if we should go over or around them. Melchior says around may be the best option. Balthazar’s jokes are endlessly amusing.

Day 31: I take it back. Balthazar’s jokes are tiresome.

Day 40: Our journey around the mountains continues. The star seems to be waiting for us. It is much different here to back home. The language is…
