Teddy was full. Melted chocolate made his fingers sticky. He began to lick them.

“Teddy! What have you done?” He hadn’t seen his Mum come in. He was too busy enjoying the sweet bliss of the moment.

“Eaten my chocolate,” he tried to say. His mouthful of chocolate made the words slightly garbled.

“But that’s your advent calendar! You’re meant to have one each day.”

“Oh! I didn’t know. I’m only six.” He did know, he just couldn’t resist.

“You do know! I told you yesterday, and reminded you this morning. You just couldn’t wait, could you?”

“No, Mummy. It is so nice!”

“OK, Teddy. To be honest, when something is great, it is really hard to wait. Some things we have to wait for though.”

“I know. I have to wait for my Christmas presents. It is AGES away.” Teddy hadn’t learned about capital letters yet, but if he had, he would have made them very clear in his speaking.

“It is. Some things are worth waiting for. But, as a treat, I have an idea.”

Teddy’s Mum had good ideas. “What, Mum?”
