Impact of Technology in the Workplace

I will be investigating how the development and rapid implementation of technology has caused a change in the skill sets needed for workers to succeed in the future. In order to be properly prepared for the workplace in the soon to come years, it is essential to be aware of such changes and delve into learning and applying these different skills.

As young adults preparing to begin a career in the workplace, it will be beneficial for us to assess the skills we currently have and work on adding skills to set us apart from the rest and push us toward success.

The industrial revolution brought about a skill set of routine. Today, many physical tasks have become automated due to the development of technology. The need for highly skilled expertise is shifting to the need for interpersonal skills. Creativity and emotional intelligence are skills highly sought after.

I’d like to explore additional skills that would help one succeed in the future workplace. I also want to research the various ways in which technology has taken over job tasks and the ways in which communication skills have evolved.

Developing my critical thinking skills would be helpful in preparing for the changing workplace. It is so important to be able to actively communicate, evaluate information, and provide appropriate feedback based on the information given in a certain situation. Obtaining these skills will aid in times where problems need to be looked at from a different angle to be solved.
