Indus Valley Civilization is a large civilization with its presence from Modern-day Balochistan, Pakistan to Gujarat, India.

It is known as the most advanced ancient civilization, due to its use of Burnt Brick. In Egyptian Civilization, Pyramids were made from Sun-dried Brick.

History of its discovery

The first information on the existence of this civilization in the Punjab Area was available in the 1870s CE when a railway line was led down between Lahore to Karachi.

In the 1920s, when JH Marshall became the head of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), he gave the task to two Indians, Dayaram Sahni, and RD Banerjee.

In 1921 CE, Dayaram Sahni excavated the site of Harappa, and in 1922 CE RD Banerjee excavated the site of Mohenjo-Daro.

By this time, it was firmly established that Indus Valley Civilization, was the most advanced ancient Civilization.
Yes, it didn’t have beautiful monuments like the Egyptian Civilization, but IVC was unique in the sense of its advanced urban planning, and the making of burnt brick with the same shape and size.
