There is a common misconception among non-Indians that India is not a safe place for women because of the number of rape incidents. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a rape happens every 16 minutes in INDIA.

In this article, I will not tell you about our culture, in which women are worshiped and cared for in a way that no other country has ever done. This is because India now is not the same as it was in the past.

India has fallen from its former grandeur when someone so consumed by desire as to be unable to realize the girl is a child and do whatever his lust commands him to do.

The problem is the paternalistic society we have in India, where we may tell our daughters and sisters not to go outside after sunset, but we can go even at midnight, is to blame for India’s women’s safety issues.

Conditions right now

This may not be enough to make things worse, the worst is when these ladies (victims) get pulled over because they were out late at night, or because they were wearing ripped jeans, or because they have forgotten Indian Culture.

So-called twisted sectors of society frequently tout their conservative values, such as going home early, wearing traditional clothing, and avoiding late-night events, could have save women's respect and evaded the assailants.

Parents of the victim are often blamed for the wrong upbringing of their children and got blamed for not teaching their daughter.

Questions to be asked to these People

1. Why do Women have to do such sacrifices?

2. Why women shouldn’t go outside after a certain time?

3. Why should women's freedom be decided by other people, even if it’s their loved ones?

4. Why should Martial rape not consider rape?

What can we do to change society?

  • Change your mentality first.
  • Stop showing supremacy against your women.
  • Give your woman, the equality, which she deserves.
  • Teach your son to treat everyone equally.
  • Help other women, who are in need.
  • Don’t be an ignorant guy.

What should a woman do?

This group of individuals will not disappear, therefore I would never advise you to stop listening to the advice of those who care about you. As a matter of fact, they’re saying it for your own good. Whether you’re a black belt or a Karate champion, you’ll lose in a one-on-two matchup.

In fact, Traditional wear looks more good, though it’s not comfortable, I can understand, but you can try it as you wish.

For now, women should be careful, it’s true the danger is going on, take care of yourself.

Women have a long way, fighting for their rights against patriarchal mindsets and other social ills. Instead of making them curb their freedom and rights, society and the government must ensure the protection of women both in public and private places.
