This is hard, but it’s time.

When I started this publication, Indelible Ink, more than two years ago, I envisioned highlighting and promoting the exceptional creative and advocacy writing I knew existed here at Medium, and when so many of my favorite writers came on board I couldn’t have been happier.

In the Submission Guidelines the first paragraph read:

We’re a publication dedicated to writing that resonates — activism, artistry, memoir, craft. We’re looking for good writing that speaks to us, that energizes, invigorates, entertains and/or informs. Indelible writing. Not timid, not passive, not careless.

I’m proud of the quality of the writing and I’ll be forever grateful to those marvelous writers who wanted their precious pieces to be published here. They made this place and, for a good long while, it thrived.

I loved what we were doing here, but times change and so do writers. They found other pubs where they would rather place their work. I understand that. Now there are so many publications it’s hard to compete, and the truth is, I didn’t want to take part in a competition. I don’t see the need to add to the competition. There are plenty of great publications out there trying to promote good writing, just as we did here.
