New in Notebook.ai: PayPal and shareable Premium Codes

Ever since Notebook.ai first added subscriptions back in 2017, we’ve accepted credit card payments processed through Stripe, one of the leading payment processors available.

However, many people around the world don’t have or use credit cards, and tons and tons of people have requested PayPal over the years.

I’m very happy to announce that PayPal is now supported as a payment option in Notebook.ai. In addition to a credit card, you can now pay for Premium with your PayPal balance, a direct bank transfer, or any other payment methods available in PayPal.

And it works in a new (also frequently requested!) way, too: you can now unlock all Premium features for a set amount of time without using a recurring subscription by using Premium Codes. Of course, subscriptions are still available and work the same way they always have, with the freedom to upgrade or downgrade at any time you’d like.

Introducing Premium Codes

Premium Codes work the way you’d expect. You choose a length of time you’d like your Premium to be active and purchase a code for the same price as you would a subscription, and then you can activate that code at any time to instantly upgrade your account to Premium. Afterward, you’re automatically downgraded back to the free Starter tier and not charged again.

My favorite part of Premium Codes is that they can also be shared with friends. Whenever you purchase one, it’ll also generate a link that you can share with a friend that lets them activate it instead. It’s super simple for both you and them and looks like this:

If your friend doesn’t already have a Notebook.ai account when you share a Premium Code with them, you’ll also be credited with referring them.

Speaking of referrals…

Track your referrals (and rewards) from a nice, new page

Also in your account billing section (accessed by clicking “My Account > Billing” in the sidebar), you’ll also see a new link to track your referrals.

On this page, you’ll be able to grab your personalized referral code that you can share wherever you’d like, and you’ll be able to see who has signed up to Notebook.ai with your referral code, with links to their profile so you can check out what they’re working on (if they’ve made anything public, that is!).

Lastly, you’ll also be able to track your referral rewards from the same page. Right now, you’ll earn a permanent 100MB of image upload space for each user you refer to Notebook.ai. I plan to add more rewards in the future, and will apply them retroactively to everyone’s referrals, too. :)

I hope everyone is enjoying all the new features already out this year; 2020 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Notebook.ai, and I’m extremely excited about everything in development and coming soon, too.

As always, I’d love to hear any and all suggestions for how you’d improve Notebook.ai. I originally built it for my own writing, but feedback from people like you helps me make sure Notebook.ai grows to be the best writing tool for everyone!

Happy worldbuilding!
Andrew
