A tool to help make shit happen…

…that we use here at IU to help people prioritise, make fast decisions and get on with stuff.

We’re all about driving to outcomes. We think it’s wise to ask yourself, what’s actually happened as a result of some resources (time or money) being used? And this is never more true when planning ahead for how you might deploy resources. When prioritising, people tend to focus on what to deploy resources on, when they should really be thinking about how to deploy those resources too.

A while back, we found that some ‘pods’ had formed at IU where large numbers of people were spending considerable time on things that weren’t going to really move the needle that much. We also found that some people were spending quite a bit of time involving others in small things that they could have just done themselves. So we made a really simple tool to help overcome these barriers — the aim is to keep the company’s resources focused on the things that will have the biggest impact and to help people spend less time thinking about doing something and more time just doing it. It’s really worked for us and we hope it might help some of you too. You’re welcome!
