Dahaad : The Whimper
In this crime thriller, police officer Anjali Bhaati (Sonakshi Sinha) fights the caste system and intolerant Hindus while hunting for a serial killer on the side.
Within the first few minutes of the first episode, you see the police escorting a father and son belonging to the Muslim community out of a police jeep; the duo is being taken to the police station to “answer questions.”
The daughter of a high caste Hindu of the town — a Thakur — has reported his daughter missing, allegedly kidnapped by the other son of the Muslim man brought in for questioning. A complaint by a Thakur makes it a priority case for the police.
Meanwhile, a local Hindu politician sees this as an opportunity to instigate Hindu sentiments; he gets a huge crowd of Hindus outside the police station to shout slogans against Love — Jihad.
A man who visits the police station every day to report his sister missing is turned away every time — the police have no time for a low-caste Hindu. Sensing that a Muslim angle will get him heard, the man concocts a story of how a Muslim man trapped and kidnapped his sister. The Hindu politician orders the police to find the man’s sister ASAP and nab the Muslim man.
