FSSAI State Licence Registration

Registration with the FSSAI at the state level

The Food Standards and Safety Authority of India (FSSAI) is the primary authority and responsibility of food safety regulation and control. As a result, taking the FSSAI Food Safety License Registration is required by law. We’ll talk about the FSSAI state license registration here.

Businesses with an annual revenue of Rs.12 lakhs to Rs.20 crore can apply for a state license from the FSSAI. Small to medium-sized food manufacturers, storage facilities, transporters, retailers, restaurants, marketers, and distributors, among others, must get an FSSAI State License Registration.

Anyone who wants to work in the food industry must obtain an FSSAI license. This includes not just those who prepare food, but also those who handle it at various stages before it reaches the customer, such as raw materials, production, processing, restaurants, packing, and distribution, as well as those who have the authority to sell it.

Why is a FSSAI State license required?

  • A person must guarantee that the items used in the food business are not harmful in any way before starting a food business. We all know that food is a very sensitive subject because it has such a direct impact on one’s health. All you have to do now is determine whether you are eligible for a Basic, State, or Central license. Food business owners may be eligible for a state license if they meet certain criteria. The following conditions necessitate a state FSSAI license: -
  • Every person involved in food operations activities such as production, selling, transportation, or in any way dealing with food items must get a state license.
  • The Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006 has made significant reforms to protect and improve food quality and hygiene. To start a food business, a person must obtain an FSSAI registration and license, according to the laws.
  • Whether it is a Basic, State, or Central license, all Food Business Operators must meet all of the Act’s standards and duties.
  • The provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Regulations 2011 control and regulate the issuance of a license or registration certificate.
  • The type and nature of the food business determines the FSSAI license or registration requirements.
  • If a food business operator’s operations spread to more than one state, the main branch/head office must obtain a Central FSSAI license. A State License or Basic Registration is also required for each branch, depending on their eligibility.
  • The FSSAI license is a one-time cost that lasts one to five years, depending on the goal of the business.
