Why do so many students opt for jobs unrelated to their branch of study?This preference for non-core jobs breeds poor sudent interest in their “own” branches and thus engender a poor learning environment in the classroom. Our article explores what factors drive student choices, and what can be done to address the problem — more interdisciplinary streams of study, better placement processes and collating placement data for better future planning.
