Protein Infused Mango Lassi

Nothing screams more Indian than lassi! Lassi is a traditional yogurt based drink that contains yogurt, spices and some fruits. You have sweet and salt lassi for different taste buds and bhang lassi that has a little magic weed added to it. That’s the drink everyone loves to drink during holi in India. I remember my mom forced us to drink lassi everyday to calm our body in the summer. Indian summers can take a huge toll on your body if you don’t take care of yourself. Salt lassi/chaas is specially famous in summers.

So like every recipe we are adding a twist to this super sacred recipe — adding a little bit of protein to it. I love making smoothies after working out or early in the morning. This is a recipe makes a great post workout smoothie that you will love! Its so easy to make and all you need are couple of spices. I used trimono protein water with coconut and pineapple flavor for the recipe. I love the taste of this protein water, its not too strong and has no sugars added. You can replace it with any protein shake/powder you like. Read along for step by step recipe and watch the video to see how to do it-

Serves: 1

What You’ll Need

Fresh mango — I was lucky enough to get alphonso variety

Yogurt — 1/2 cup

Cardamom powder — 1 teaspoon

Ground Pistachios — 1 teaspoon

Protein water/shake — 1 cup(If you are using powder use a scoop)

Optional

Sugar — I used coconut sugar, but you don’t have to. You can use honey/agave/sugar. It also depends on how sweet your mango is. If your mango is tart you might need a little more sugar. Just use your instincts. :)

How We Did It

  1. Get all your ingredients ready — cardamom powder, pistachios, yogurt and protein shake/water.

2. Peel the mango and cut up into cubes.

Purée mango

3. Make a puree of the mangoes. Now start adding each one of the ingredients into a glass.

Brown sugar(optional)
Garnish with pistachios

4. Mix it all up and now you have your awesome lassi ready to drink.
