A Binder Project Prepared Me For Joining A Start-Up?

In the summer of 2015, I was enrolled in Professor Wingates introduction to business course. This would become the class that would not only change my intuition on the world of business, but would teach me the necessary tools to execute running a startup. Professor Wingates class exposed me to the different perspectives and ambitions of businesses such as Tesla, Google, and Apple. Moreover, I was also assigned a project where we had to take an idea and pitch it to a “venture capitalist.” This semester long project would be know as the “Ultimate Binder Project.” The goal of the project was to create a binder that would have all the tools necessary to ensure a student would be successful and prepared for lecture. Using the knowledge and experience I learned from this class, I felt like I had sufficient experience to turn Tandem into a reality. Based off my credentials and entrepreneur traits, William asked me to become his Co-Founder. Thus, we wrote a contract and I became the official Co-Founder of Tandem.

Our first official meeting as Co-Founders was on May 26, 2016. The goal of that day was to outline our startup and objectives. Based on what I learned from Wingates class, it was important for us to organize ourselves because this not only allowed us to have a clear vision, but made our meetings more specific. No doubt from May till August we would complete 3 crucial stages before we were ready to execute Tandem. In our next blog we will break down those three crucial stages we took.
