Leap back on your writing horse.

They say don’t post every day because it’s gratuitous and your quality will suffer. They say post weekly, or bi- weekly, and edit and rewrite in between. They say that is the key. To what? Success. Fame. Followers. All those prizes. I say screw that. I say post everyday. Put it out there. Edit faster. Edit as you go. Develop that skill. Post hourly if you can. Post whenever your heart beats and your fingers get the itch. Post even if they don’t.

They say write the truth. Be authentic. Be real. I say screw that. Write around the edges of truth. Take a wild swing at the truth. Write whatever pours out. Let the truth find itself in your words. Forget about truth. Write what you feel. Write lies. White and black ones. Write till you’re blue in the face.

They say write for your audience. Your 1,000 true followers, or 190, or 10. Write for them. I say screw that. Write for no one. Write for yourself. Write for the 8 year old version of you that had felt so much but couldn’t speak up. Write for that face in the mirror. Forget about your audience. Write for an empty theater. Write for folded seats and silent auditoriums. Write for the person on the stage. Write inward; not out.

Write for you.

As if tomorrow was not an option.

As if nothing else mattered.

Write in spite of the doubts and fears and imperfections.

We’ve all got those.

Write anyway.

Stop reading. Now.

And go.
