Appraising Praise

A poem

Any praise I receive for my perceived skill
makes me stand taller, a little,
just a second,
before a smile unfolds in its place
A sort of spark that starts in my heart
as I am reminded about how any
demonstration of such skill
is a reflection of many talented friends
and thoughtful supporters
I hold in company;
a collage of divine blessings.
And within moments the spark retires as a cheerful glow on my face,
lasting much longer than any acquaintance of praise.
