Hello Stranger

Sunrise at the lake. Photo by Louise Peacock

Hello Stranger, where you goin’?

Are you goin’ to my home town?

I’ve been wandering so long

I can’t remember where I’m from

Happy lighting accident. Photo by Louise Peacock

To the west the wind blows wildly

Across the mountains and the plains

The Northern Lakes are cold and lovely

The Southern Cities drenched in rain

Miscanthus gigantes at sunset. Photo by Louise Peacock

Oh how I long to lay my head down

In the grass beside a stream

There I’d forget that I’ve been lonely

I’d lose myself in a dream

Well, goodbye stranger, hope you like it

If you’re going to my home town

If again I ever meet you

Perhaps you’ll tell me where I ‘m from.

Note: this was written in 1972 during a very depressive cycle. I added chords and recorded it as a country song in 2004. You can hear it on Reverbnation at this link, if you want to, it the last song listed. https://www.reverbnation.com/shadyrosy
