When propaganda is mentioned, it is very hard to not become alarmed in the presence of the word. In contemporary society, propaganda has gained a negative connotation, and rightfully so. Propaganda has been deployed, and continues to be deployed, excessively to control the thoughts and actions of nations. At its most basic roots, propaganda simply represents the action of propagating some form of knowledge. Due to this basic definition, propaganda is not necessarily only deployed for malicious purposes, and the propagandist may not always be aware of the propaganda they are unintentionally broadcasting. Anything that alters behavior that has been externally sourced by observing or listening to others constitutes as propaganda. Therefore, a good case may be presented that all human interactions are propaganda — since humans are creatures that constantly change with the addition of experiences.

Propaganda is especially amplified and accelerated in a mass-mediated society. Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms all provide easy-to-use services that are quickly capable of reaching and affecting thousands and thousands of people. No longer does the propagandist require proficient public speaking and presentation skills.
