As a Human Resources consultant, I am often asked “How do I write a resignation letter?”

It’s easy. I promise.

Traditional schools may teach you how to apply for a job but it’s against their better judgment to teach you how to end one. That’s where I come in. I’m here to help.

There are important details that need to be included in your letter in order for your transition out of the company to be as smooth as possible, for all parties involved.

Please feel free to use this simple template as a starting point for your letter. You can easily edit the details to match your needs.

Your edited document can be dropped off/handed to your manager/direct supervisor OR whichever department accepts resignations.

Always make sure that you have done your research first.

Some companies actually have their own Resignation Portal and process on their internal website. That option may allow you to submit your written resignation easily and efficiently.
