Dating: My Swipe Left Finger Is All Cramped Up!

Becoming single again at 50 was a hell of an adjustment after being married for a good part of my adult life, but I charged forward full of hope

To be honest I am great at relationships and suck at dating! I always have. This time, though, I thought this will be fun and exciting with there being so many options today to meet people. Eh, online dating on the surface looks easy. Just a few clicks and you’re busy busy busy. Wrong.

It is the land of almost dating. Conversations consist of a few sentences and either they lose interest or want to meet right now. That’s the result of the fast food, right now culture we find ourselves in.

Why I’m Swiping Left

Pretty much every dating app has adopted the Tinder system, if you swipe right, you like someone and if they liked you, there’s a match and conversation is possible but if you swipe left there is no liking. What break up has ever been easier?

Men suck at dating profiles! Sorry guys I gotta say it and I am not the only one, many of my female friends have said the same as I have and here are a few reasons we are swiping left

Your photos!!!! We just want to see what you look like, no comedy, and for the love of god stop putting your kids in the pictures! Do you realize that all of the Internet gets to see your kids and some aren’t so kosher? I am sure the thought process is to make you look more approachable and just no!

Your pictures are obviously old! What good does it do you to add an old picture if the expectation is meeting up?

Fill out the bio! Your chances of being clicked on are reduced by the lack of info on your profile. Online dating is risky for women and most of us assume you’re married if you aren’t supplying even a little information. Sharing even the minimal amount inspires trust.

Make an effort! I hear a lot of men say that women on these apps and sites don’t want to meet. They do, but women usually need to feel safe, have a conversation which extends to more than three sentences. A little effort goes a long way.

Avoid negativity! If I see you telling me nobody is real or any super like is unintended I will scream. Why are you even bothering then? If we see negativity from the starting line, we can pretty much guess what dating you would be like.
