My top 3 books for World Book Day

Sunday was World Book Day, so to celebrate I’ve put together a list of 3 books that I highly recommend everyone should read. These books focus on big ideas that influence global society and business. They’ve helped open my mind to new and thought provoking concepts that have changed the way I view the world. Let me know your recommendations.

The Beginning of Infinity by David Deutsch

Deutsch looks at the progress of humanity following the Scientific Revolution, explaining his worldview that human potential is infinite. The author is so intellectually curious, provocative, and well-articulated that it is an absolute privilege to open your mind to greater possibilities by tapping into his way of thinking. Deutsch might be one of the greatest minds out there, so this won’t be the easiest read, but it will stay with you long after the last page.

The Better Angels of Our Nature by Steven Pinker

This 800-page, data filled book is a timely and relevant work on how violence has decreased over time despite the appreciation of the world you might get from the news. Under the enveloping theme of the evolution of violence, Pinker takes you through a well-documented journey that explores the essence of human nature, the history of ideas, and the journey of our species.

The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin by Benjamin Franklin

I always find it fascinating to discover insights from the past as it allows me to step outside the ideologies of the present day and enlarge my context. I found Benjamin Franklin to be an inspiring author, as his book takes you on a journey to some 300 years ago to discover an individual helping build a society on a foundation of critical thinking and continuous advancement of ideology.
