Perfection is one blink away

The blinds are down and only a few rays of sunlight get through. I can see the black hair and the back of a female silhouette.

The gal turns around slowly. She open her eyes and starts looking at me.

The whole universe has been compressed in her eyes and I don’t want to look away.

I know that for the time being in this room, she is going to embody the perfection. Don’t think I’m fooling myself, she is far from being perfect. This moment will not last forever. But perfection never does.

“Perfect” is defined as having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be. Some people think that quality is not achievable. They’re wrong. But only because they’re looking for a long-lasting perfection. Perfection is never a long-lasting quality.

Perfection at this moment is her eyes fixed on me jointly with a subtle smile.

A moment was the most you could ever expect from perfection.
— Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club

A few minutes later, she has stopped staring at me and has got out from the bed. The moment has passed and now there are only remains between the sheets. She takes a towel and leaves the room.

The quest for perfection is an ephemeral journey, can only be found in unexpected places. In a sea of blue eyes, in a glass of red lips. In a universe of freckles. And it never lasts long enough before it disappears again.

I can’t remember her name. But I will remember her eyes.
