Beyond the Pretty Dresses — Plants In the Backroom

It’s amazing the things you find at the back of a cute clothing store!
While wandering through the Junction area of Toronto, I spotted a sign outside a store that said “the Cat lady is the new Plant lady”. This intrigued me of course, and I went in.
No cats in sight, but a very pretty ladies clothing store called the Coal Miner’s Daughter. Intrigued I asked about the cat lady and the attractive young woman at the front of the store told me that the cat lady really was the plant lady and could be found at the very back of the store!
We walked to the back of the store, and sure enough there was a bright room holding some nice, large indoor plants, a spacious cooler with roses and other cut flowers, a wall shelf filled with tiny succulents and miniature Cacti, and at the back, the plant lady herself.

The owner has taken numerous courses in flower arranging, and worked in the florist business for a while. She did wedding flowers, but after one enormous wedding, she decided it was too much pressure, and said firmly “No more weddings”
Her dream had always been to open her own store, but the opportunity had not come up, until her friends from The Coal Miner’s Daughter told her they were opening a new store in the Junction, and had some space available if she was interested

She was nervous about doing this at first, but her boyfriend convinced her to give it a try, and she opened up for business in mid February.
Things are going well, people are flower and plant crazy at the moment, it seems to be the latest fad. She doesn’t mind. She says “Come on in!”
