Tapping into India’s idea potential

Ideas are a dime a dozen. People who implement them are priceless.

An average person has 50,000–70,000 thoughts every day with about 5% of these being new thoughts and only 20% being positive ones. With a population of 1.3 billion people, India collectively has over 300 billion new, positive ideas every single day. That’s a huge capital of ideas waiting to be materialised. Even if we could implement a very tiny fraction of these every day, the impact over time could be phenomenal.

Traversing along the arduous path to becoming one of those ‘priceless’ people who bring ideas to reality, I gained many insights into why the adage holds in India. One of the biggest challenges faced was the lack of a consolidated manufacturing ecosystem — manufacturing resources are scattered across small clusters within the country, not highly publicised and not prototyping-friendly. Out of 10 vendors, maybe 2 would agree to process your material, quoting charges as per their perception of your paying capacity, deprioritising your job till you’ve called them 5–10 times and almost hit your deadline. Often, the quality wouldn’t match your expectations, and the turnaround time would eventually make you opt for poorer quality / hand crafted, crude substitutes. With every such successive experience, I found the number of people sharing the zeal to create new hardware based products dropping at a rather alarming rate.

Making things shouldn’t be this hard.

This thought led to the creation of Rolling Cube. Aiming to democratize and simplify the process of making things, our portal allows you to upload your design, select a material, process & quantity to get instant, automated quotations & doorstep delivery:
