The Call

‘Hello! Who’s calling?’ he answered the noisy phone.

'Hello, I am Sara. Sara Wilburn. You were my Chemistry teacher at college a few years back. I found your number and just wanted to say hello! I hope you remember me. How have you been?’

'Sara Wilburn? The Potassium Permanganate girl?’

She smiled. 'Yes, Sir.’

'I’m doing great! It is such a pleasant surprise to hear from you! Where are you now?’ He asked; happiness ringing in his voice.

'I am in Australia. It’s been long, and I am trying to connect with everyone who has helped me get where I am today,’ Sara replied.

He smiled.

'Are you still at college?' she asked.

'Yes, I am still at college. Hey listen, I am in a hurry right now, but let me call you back soon,' he replied.

'Yes, yes absolutely! Thanks again!' she said, her smile evident in her voice.

She crossed out the last name on her people-to-call list. The last one month of her life would probably be a little more peaceful.
