Tattoos may seem like nothing more than art, but they are perhaps one of humanity’s oldest forms of creation. The art of tattooing has been around since Neolithic times, and it has been practiced in nearly every culture across the globe. Today, people get them for a number or reasons, be it the aesthetic, to remember a loved one, or to openly express something from within. It’s my personal belief that the tattoos we choose have more power than we are aware of, and thus we should choose them with deeper intention than we may normally think to use.
Like words, images have power. This is why paintings and drawings can evoke powerful emotions within us. It is also why images and icons of all kinds are used in faiths across the globe. Humans use symbols to not only harness energy, but to embody it and focus it. This is why altars exist. In the same way altars harness and focus spiritual energy, tattoos can be used for the same purpose, as well as manifestation.
