The Real Goal is Here

You have to write more. Whether or not you gain financial success with your writing is irrelevant. If you want to write, you must write. Producing stories, poetry, screenplays, blogs, or any other form requires that the work be done.

The doubt lives with us. It is unavoidable and should be accepted for what it is. Doubt is a phantom of the mind. But doubt need not have so much power. If you think about the process, what is random?

The financial success is up in the air. That might not be achieved. Many professional writers would tell you that those who are able to support themselves with their craft are few and far between.

Doubt loses its power when discussing the act of writing. Writing is a guarantee. People who want to write stories can write stories. It’s right in front of us. This path, this surefooted guarantee of action, should calm us in the face of doubt.

Telling stories for financial gain is said to be an unworthy goal. While it may be easy for a financially independent writer to say so, the idea does have some merit. That may not mean that one must ignore the market or think about a prospective audience. After all, we as authors are part of that potential audience. Many of us write what we like to read.

Before getting caught up in marketing and blogging and figuring out how to get the most readers using KDP Select or Kindle Unlimited, or any of the plethora of tools that are for sale to aspiring authors: write.

Ignore all of that until you have a story. That is what is needed. And writing stories like playing music is guaranteed as long as you pick up the instrument.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
