The three impossibilities

(1)
It is an occult truth
that the ego
refuses to entertain the idea
of its extinction. Try mightily
to imagine yourself as dead —
you can visualize your corpse,
you can see it lying cold as a stone;
but you are conscious, at the same time,
of your true self watching your corpse —
alive, immortal.

(2)
It is a fact of life
that actions are overshadowed
by morals. They are born of virtues —
eternal, constant, unchangeable. Imagine,
if you can,
a world without virtues; or
a world where bad replaces good.
It is impossible:
for virtues are absolute realities,
and all bad a mortal illusion
dependent on the conception of virtue
for existence.

(3)
It is difficult
to understand God wholly
and to apprehend Him fully —
but He is. Keeping this in mind,
it is impossible
to do wrong.
