So, before we go into the details of the traits of a successful entrepreneur, we must first understand that what actually entrepreneur is, and if every businessman can be referred to as an entrepreneur.

What is meant by the entrepreneur?

An entrepreneur is regarded as an individual who starts up a business or a couple of enterprises, and continues to take monetary risks, grabs the chances, and perils to acquire financial profits.

The entrepreneur is contemplated as a forerunner and a pioneer of contemporary and innovative ideas, always looking to reinforce his business and formulation of an ideal and constructive policy. This mechanism of development of a prosperous business is referred to as Entrepreneurship. The word entrepreneur is extracted from the dialect of the French language “entrepreneur” which implies “to undertake”.

The literal connotation of entrepreneurs had never been identical to the present, but the present implication has been the result of the miscellaneous hypothesis proposed by the intellectual economist. The following three economists endorsed the predominant definition of an entrepreneur.

· Joseph Schumpeter

· Frank knight

· Israel Kirzner

It was surmised by Joseph Schumpeter, that entrepreneurs are liable for the innovation and formation of new strategies, enabling the enterprise to accomplish financial remunerations. On the other hand, Frank Knight relied on the notion of embracement of the risk’s recompenses in business and trade by an entrepreneur. While Kirzner hypothesized entrepreneurs as explorers, always rummaging for productive alternatives to grasp onto, and entrepreneurship as an expedition ventured by entrepreneurs.

However, while illustrating the inscription of an entrepreneur, several definitions have been proposed by eminent economists, and are based on different modes. Some of them are as follows,

According to Alfred Marshall conventional protocol,

“Entrepreneur is a person who brings together capital and labour required for the work, who adventures or undertakes the risk, who arranges or engineers it a general plan”.

Peter F. Ducker’s young intellect states,

“Entrepreneurs create something new, something different, they, change and transmute value”.

And, fundamentally the amalgamated strategy of Joseph A. states,

“Entrepreneur is a person who foresees the opportunity and tries to exploit it by introducing a new product, a new method of production, new market, a new source of raw material, or a new combination of factors of production.”
