Do you know what are the aspect of App Store ranking??

Apple has its own search algorithm just like in web search engines. The result that users get on search is only depending the Apple AppStore search engine.

The App store includes your app in the search list based on your keywords. Most of the aspect which is responsible for app ranking are concealed by Apple. Still, there are certain terms that I know about the algorithm that we use in-app metadata like keywords.

Wait…Keywords means iTunes keyword field.

Everything you mention in Title, Keyword, Description, Review and other metadata fields, all are having an influence over app rankings. Most important is the Title of App and 100-character long keyword set.

The process to determine the best keywords for your App

The App Store Optimization process is a continuing performance tracking process. Everything you do with App whether you change the metadata, screenshot, or user rating or review all affect your App ranking.

What you need to do to find best keywords for App is list down at least 50 keywords that describe your App and you can check competitors' apps or use tools like AppTweak, ASODesk, or Google Keywords Planner to create the list.

Once you ready with your list. It’s time to find the best keywords, please mind it these keywords makes AppStore search result more accurate. Now follow the below process.

  1. Shortlist App relevant keywords from list.
  2. Search with the Shortlisted keyword on AppStore and find low-volume keywords.
  3. Check the popularity of keywords with Search Ads.

So, now you are ready keywords…right, Still, we need to optimize keywords.

Quick Tips for Keyword Optimization

  • Remove White spaces, articles and preposition: Apple Algorithm truncates all the keywords to find best possible Strong keywords for AppStore searching, check below set of keywords.

Weak keywords:

name, awesome, game, the, tower, defense, epic, cool,
best,strategy,play,defend,trolls,and,wizards,fight,with

Strong keywords:

game,tower,defense,battle,defend,weapon,action,fantasy,strategy,wizard,kingdom,epic,command,fight

  • Remove all repetitions: Try to remove all repetition of your keywords from the list. One keyword is enough taken into account.
  • Keyword priority: prioritize keywords by searching on AppStore. Try to search with and without the keyword, if no change in the result or makes little difference in result put that low priority for a keyword.
  • Use the long keyword in place of two shorter ones
  • Replace number with the words: Like two in place of 2
  • Take care of Localizations: US AppStore result can be varied based on Mexico-Spanish localization.
  • Choose simple keywords: User uses to search with simple keywords, ignore complex, long keywords

Since you have only 100 characters in a keyword set, avoid meaningless words and repetitions.
