“I’m originally from Chennai, but I was born in Singapore and I’ve lived here my whole life. My parents have always tried to make sure I don’t lose track of where I’m from. I try to visit India as much as I can to visit me grandparents, but also to make sure I embrace and keeps in touch with my culture.

I fondly remember during a school outing last year, I went to Serangoon (Singapore’s Little India) for a photography project, and I came across this elderly Indian man. My friends and I were taking portraits of him. He was very sweet and started talking to us and it turned out he was from the same city as me! I immediately felt a connection with this man even though he was a complete stranger.”
