Hi, I am | Mafalda Mourão

Mafalda is one of the Product Managers at Indie Campers. Her mission is to make sure our customers find the perfect Home on wheels for their unforgettable road trips!

Mafalda has one of the most unique stories at indie Campers:

She started with us right after finishing her masters degree in Management at Nova SBE (with 2 exchange programs, one at Universidad Austral in Buenos Aires Argentina during her undergraduate degree and one at NUCB Business School in Nagoya Japan). Firstly she started to work as a Business Development and Corporate Strategy Analyst, where she was responsible for all of Indie Campers’ growth and expansion plans.

Later, she moved to a fresh new team as a Marketplace Specialist, to build and create our Marketplace business segment from the ground up. During that time, she had the opportunity to co-create our on-demand insurance with some of the best Insurance Companies Worldwide, which have allowed us to launch our Marketplace for Private Hosts in 9 countries so far.

It was then that she started having more contact with the Product and Technology team and getting to learn what Product Management really was about and got interested in the role.

As the marketplace was scaling up, we were looking for a Product Manager for that role. Mafalda saw the opportunity and talked to our CTPO and 6 months later here we are! Mafalda managed 2 very important features form our Marketplace: the move from a closed search for 40 locations to an open search for thousands of cities in Europe and Automatic Translation of listing descriptions and messages between Travellers and Hosts !

On the personal side, Mafalda loves to travel, she’s been to 27 countries so far (more than her current age !). While travelling, especially backpacking, she developed the skills to adapt to different environments and had the chance to meet new people with different backgrounds and points of view. She describes travelling as “the most enriching experience anyone can have.”
