IML Playlists: (Liv)e
Words By (Liv)e
Claudia “Salve Rainha” (1979)
“I’m already a Jazz head, always have to listen to jazz almost everyday or I feel incomplete. Claudia is a Brazilian jazz artist… and she’s insanely iLL. the whole groove on this album is crazy, but “Salve Rainha” “has to be my favorites off of it”.
Stereolab “The Flower Called Nowhere” (1997)
“For those who have never heard of Stereolab……get onnat. Stereolab has to be one of my favorite French bands. I don’t specifically know how to explain “The Flower Called Nowhere” but it definitely makes me feel really good haha. The whole composition is iLL to me”.
Taylor McFerrin “The Antidote” feat. Nai Palm & “Already There (feat. Robert Glasper & Thundercat) (2014)
“The whole album….. wow… just.. go listen. Take my word for it”.
Quasimoto “Seasons Change” (2013)
“Well if ya don’t know who Quasimoto is.. you probably don’t listen to Madlib, but if you know who Madlib is.. you probably know that every thing he does is crazy. In “Seasons Change” he samples one of my favorite jazz artist Roy Ayers and just.. lays down the illest goofiest flow ever. Talk about catchy haha. many vibes +++”
J Dilla “Shake It Down” (2001)
“There’s so much I can say about JD… Welcome 2 Detroit is just stupid iLL over all. Of course it’s all in the drums & the groove but you know.. the composition in general. From SV To just J Dilla by himself is just a powerful creative. I’m almost speechless honestly”.
Bio: (Liv)e (aka Osun) is a Dallas, TX based Visual Artist and Crate Digger. Born (Olivia Williams) in January of 1997, she cites artistic influences from singers like Erykah Badu to Sade and MC’s like Andre 3000. Greater interest in music had also come from her father who toured alongside several Jazz, Blues and Gospel acts like Johnny Taylor and ZZ Hill. “Almost all of my family members are musicians or do something music related so it’s like I couldn’t escape it”. Growing up in a musical household drove her to join an R&B cover group in youth. When she’s not digging for records at the local record store and discussing new music finds with friends, she hones her skills in art and design.
