The Real Man Film Graphic by Dennis Ramirez dennis@gphix.com

The Real Man is a very interesting film by Cathy Reinking and Darryl Dillard. It is about a black actor that vows he will only play roles that are uplifting. The question is what happens when he breaks his own rules? According to the story-line of the filmmakers, after the actor discovers he can’t make a living this way, he decides to break his own rules and accept negative stereotypes as well as one-dimensional parts. As he becomes successful with each new dark role, he begins to jeopardize the strong relationship he has with the love of his life, Laura.

This film has a great story. I do not think a film has ever been made with a story like this one. I have seen stories and films about people trying to make it to the top in entertainment. There was the movie, Sparkle, Honey, and Glitter starring Mariah Carey just to name a few. None of the characters in these movies had dark roles and jeopardized the way the character sounds in The Real Man. The Real Man has a story that is different from all the rest. That is another thing that makes this film a great story.
