Tattoos generally record personal experiences. However, the Atayal people view them as indeed the ethnic mark of life. Although tattoos have withered and disappeared, they have long been deeply imprinted in the hearts of the Atayal people, as if Christians were marked by receiving the Holy Spirit, which affects throughout life.
