Understanding indoor traffic has never been easier

I’m thrilled to announce that after two years of research and development Indoorway has been officially launched. The concept emerged back in early 2015 with the aim to create a reliable Business Intelligence tool focused on indoor location and analysis of foot traffic. From now on — for fun or professional purposes — anyone can try out fully-featured Indoorway positioning solution for free or subscribe for a commercial bundle.

Why is Indoorway worth trying?

There are many reasons why I believe Indoorway revolutionizes indoor positioning. Here are three key features that make our technology worth giving a go.

Precision

Relying solely on one method for measuring visitor’s movement turned out to be either too slow or inaccurate. Therefore, from the very beginning our idea was to focus on effective sensor fusion. We’ve blended a number of different technologies, such as gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer and beacons, to deliver a solution which is as fast and efficient as possible. Indoorway uses both radio and geomagnetic field maps. It also works with actual latitudes and longitudes to provide visitors’ precise geographical coordinates. With 1–2 meters accuracy, our developers take indoor location to a whole new level!

Scalability

We put a huge emphasis on the scalability of our SDK. It may collect and process any amount of information gathered from a single at-home tester, as well as large companies with 50.000 active users. Thanks to that Indoorway can be used for various purposes and in all types of large-sized venues. In shopping malls, for instance, the system will navigate customers to shops or parking lots. At airports and train stations, where time is of the essence, Indoorway can lead passengers through busy and crowded places by suggesting shortcuts. It may optimize performance of factories, manufacturing sites and logistics hubs, or serve as a digital assistant in offices, museums, galleries and any other public spaces, where comfort might be improved.

Simplicity

Indoorway team keeps the tool simple for both users and developers. The first group will be satisfied with intuitive graphic tools, outline automation, as well as offline access to analytical features. We will smoothly guide you into creating maps and thanks to coherent tips and user-friendly process, it won’t take long. Additionally, Indoorway tools will help you handle a whole range of maps by providing simple access to all the charts with just a few clicks. At the same time, developers will appreciate Indoorway’s SDK, which can be easily integrated into new and already existing mobile apps developed for iOS and Android run devices. We provide developers with access to a robust code, continuously improved APIs and clear documentation, so the deployment process is really quick and transparent.

Why do we want to share our tool with public for free?

Although the smart city trend is constantly increasing, we’ve observed that businesses and venues still know too little about their real-world users. Our research has shown that less than 1% of information about customers is collected in physical areas and virtually no data is gathered about the actual traffic and activities inside buildings. Navigation and spatial awareness tools that has been on the market so far are inaccessible and unscalable. In consequence, estate administrators are not able to address visitors’ needs or adjust their services to the ever changing foot traffic.

Indoorway unlocks valuable information hidden in brick-and-mortar venues and thanks to intuitive dashboard enables analysis of massive databases. Thus our tool helps property managers to understand customers and considerably improve their indoor experience. Indoorway has been created to serve users and meet their expectations. We offer it for free for up to 100 active devices, because we believe each company should get a suitable bundle corresponding to its size and financial capabilities. Try out Indoorway at home, in your shop, small office, medium-sized business or anywhere else and let us know what you think.

What’s more, we’ve built four open source apps, which can be deployed in any venue. They will help with navigating, finding colleagues and reporting maintenance issues in offices. There is also an augmented reality game based on Indoorway solution, which will bring fun to the workplace.
