Did you know that air pollution kills more than seven million people worldwide every year posing one of the largest health hazards to the human population? About 90% of the air that we breathe is polluted due to increased levels of pollution!

While all of our lives are affected by air pollution, the important question here is, how much do we know about it?

Data recorded over the past decade suggests that 22 out of the 30 most polluted cities in the world are in India. Most of the Indian states fail to meet the World Health Organization Air Quality Guidelines. Air pollution has progressively become a public health emergency among humans thereby adversely affecting the birth weight, child growth, metabolism, and cognitive abilities of children. It has also reduced the average life expectancy of a child by at least 2.6 years. 2016 was particularly bad as 6,00,000 children died from acute lower respiratory infections caused by polluted air. Air pollution has heightened the risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases. It is not only a leading threat to child health but also affects the elderly population. When people are exposed to such harmful pollutants, it affects physical and mental health, leading to respiratory diseases, heart diseases, cancer, depression, anxiety, dementia, and an increase in the death rate of the elderly. Therefore, it is of utmost essence that we breathe air that is free of harmful pollutants, particulate matter, pathogens, and other toxins.

We are faced with an important question. Is there a solution to this problem? If yes, then is the solution effective?

The current pandemic has forced people to spend more time indoors than ever before. We are being exposed to pollutants from cooking fuel combustion, particulate matter, and pathogens from outside air contributing to the growing menace of Indoor Air Pollution. Household air pollution is one of the leading causes of disease and premature death in developing countries. Rapid advancement in air purification technology is helping Air Purifiers play an important role in solving this critical problem. Air purifiers disinfect and purify the indoor air by removing harmful pathogens, allergens, and pollutants.

Indra is playing a key role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations by developing clean technology solutions. Indra’s novel solution Vajra AIR incorporates electrically driven pre-filtration and post-filtration in a robust approach to ensure safe indoor spaces void of allergens, pathogens, VOCs, harmful gases, and other pollutants. Indra’s Vajra AIR is driving the future of air purification with its highly Advanced Ion Capture and Hybrid Electric Filtration technology by bringing industrial-grade air purification technology for consumer applications. The device is also a step towards sustainability with its unique 100% recycled wood body design. Its smart IoT-enabled features make it user-friendly providing the customer with a one-stop solution for air purification, filtration, and disinfection. Solutions which tackle fundamental problems globally are critical to reviving our planet and our ecosystem.

Indra is committed to driving this positive change by protecting our natural resources for the present and future generations.
