I am half empty and half full
I am everywhere and nowhere at all
I have gorged on the sweet bounty of a life uncharted
And hurtled down Alice’s rabbit hole to a self departed
I go one step forward but three steps back
I fall forward as my three-dimensional world begins to crack
My awareness has been pulled from beneath me
A single point that splinters, setting me free
I dissolve into the nothingness that birthed me into existence
And pray that the cosmos will award me for my persistence
I find a new doorway at every turn
And tumble through as my residual self begins to burn
Down into the mud and out through the looking glass
Over the hill, below the setting sun and through each ancient tree I pass
Reality twists in circles around a spot appointed
My core-self softens as each rigged pattern becomes disjointed
Some part of my soul begs for one more chance on the merry-go
To hail and shriek like an innocent child that’s enjoying the show
As all feels lost, I feel the presence of something new
A humbling acceptance of something that rings true
I am saved by kind strangers in the blackness of night
When I am on my knees and completely unable to fight
They pull me up and carry me back to a tent
And swiftly administer a herbal infusion that begins my ascent
From a dark, wet, spiralling world of delusions
To a light filled tent of friendly souls and paternal illusions
Opposite, sits an Irish leprechaun, with a wise toadstool for a…
