Divine, Barefoot
Sonnet

O barefoot Divine, immeasurable measure of worlds,
Swift and sudden Thy retribution of love.
By a sweet pang of Thee my heart is,
All eternity lived in Thy endless curve.
Thy first measure, the universe endless became,
My thought captive of Thee grew infinite:
Thy light and joy my spirit’s inherent rhythm,
In worlds here and beyond.
Thy second measure, Thyself nude and formless,
My mind became a sacred syllable of Thee.
All forms art Thou, myriad and myriad-less,
A Dionysian joy wanting to be.
Thy third measure, O Thou ineffable;
All of I measured by Thy delight integral!
