Mardini

Sonnet

Once again comes the demon will
Lured by shades of every perverse thrill.
Coarse, obtuse and an adamant brute
Light and ease and beatitudes does refute.

Dual-horned, grim-visaged his approach
Stamps every rising fire with a slimy touch.
His tools were doubt and an outward fate
He erases all progress, leaves a black slate.

The hosts of heaven assemble now
To deal with Mahisha and his prideful bellow.
Not by a sole power can he be done
By mere reason or morals this battle won.

Then arose astride a Lion, our battle-ready Mardini
Destroyer of Mahisha, composed of the Trinity!
