The Wherefore of Self
Poem
Drops of light, mind illumined;
Waves of joy, all succour and hope.
Dreams of delight, life fulfilled;
All these are Thee, am Thy slave.
Earnest my supplication, will determined;
My heart seeking Thy joy, rapture filled.
Mind enhaloed supreme, now no longer mind;
These are Thy spirit’s, am Thy servant.
Brighter the night skies, stars shooting,
Like children of Dawn on earth, wandering.
Mind half-lit by reason, stumbling;
Sees only their distant faces glimmering.
Earth aspiring for her Lord, fulfilled at last;
Nature submitting herself, is now Supernature.
Thru her tresses climb souls, her processes God’s;
Earth arriving at the hour divine, all turns gold and silver.
Thy presence nearing, earth grows divine,
Like a blossoming lotus towards the sun.
My body, touched by Thy omniscience,
Shares Thy nectar immortal with all men.
Eremite our selves, passion subdued;
Thy rapture-hour drawing near, all standstill.
A chorus from my depths rising, delight embodied,
“Because Thou art, Thou art all!”
