Did it ever happen to you that you start a new exercise routine and somehow slip after a while?

May you start going to gym and slowly give up after a month? Guess what!?

You are not alone. Go to a gym in January where you will see some folks there who made a New Year resolution.

It happened to me on many occasions. You name it: gyms, exercise, diet and the list goes one.

Until I came across this quote by John Ortberg:

Habits eat willpower for breakfast.

So here is what is going on in the background. We see something is not right. For example, we are gaining weight and we notice that.

Then we decide to do something about it. In this case, it is a diet. It means we have to start managing what to eat or not.

It is not easy or straightforward. So we say “yes, we can” and call willpower for help.

Willpower is like a muscle. You can use it but only for so long. It is a matter of days before our old habits creeps in.

We throw the towel and gave up. Go back to how things were. And wait for another year :)

What if there is a better way? This is where habits come in.

Read about the habits and how to do anything you want in life in the next blog post.
