The differences in solid vs stranded copper cables?
How to choose between Solid and Stranded
Knowing when to use each type of cable is important. Especially when it comes to solid and stranded copper cables. Solid copper cables do a great job running a signal over longer distances and stranded cables are great for short length end to end devices. Between computers, switches and routers, etc.
The advantages of solid conductors is that it is an overall lower cost, less complex termination system, better transmission at high frequencies and has less resistance.
The advantages of stranded cables are that they are more flexible, have a longer flex life and are less susceptible to damage during the crimp termination process because of all that.
