Avoid Cookie Cutter Content… Try This Instead

Marketing relevant content is one thing, but providing unique and interesting ideas on a regular basis is something many aspiring influencers avoid having to do.

Isolation is a self-imposed aspect in the lifestyle of a content creator; however, these conditions are only necessary when drafting, editing and composing their work. Beyond this, the best thing an influencer can do is intermix with their friends, family, coworkers, clients and online following to familiarize themselves with the likes, dislikes and trending topics pertinent to their audiences.

No single creator can generate hundreds of unique ideas on their own; stretching various assumptions of what one might think their audience needs or wants to hear often leads to creator’s block or irrelevant work. The detriment of this approach is obvious.

When jobs depend on generating predictive content that specific audiences want to see before they even know it, the worst thing to do is foster a self-dependent work style — it ensures constricted thinking.

As an influencer, your content is your product; and your best product, the most engaging content, is not what you think is best, it’s what your audience wants.

Successful brands grow their loyal consumer base because they are so in-tune with what their customers need or want, that their strategies moving forward are always planned around what is best for their customers. When an influencer takes the same approach to their content, numbers of loyal readers increase, and, in turn, allows the influencer to dive deep and really develop their subject pool. Perfecting the specifics is the best way to not only remain relevant to an existing audience but also ensures that content relevance will not waiver with the addition of new followers.

When it comes to eliminating any disconnect between you, your audience’s needs and the process of creation, stop guessing and start asking. Ask your clients and online audience for insight on topics within your industry that they want to be addressed. See what they like about your content, ask how to improve what you’ve provided so far to better fit their wants and needs; and don’t forget that listening will be the key to successful execution.
