If you’re reading this, chances are, you probably think there are A TON of influencer marketing platforms that look the same.

We don’t blame you.

That’s one of the challenges with a new frontier, like influencer marketing; there’s often very little specialization and many companies trying to “do-it-all”.

Our experience comes from over 20,000 influencer and brand collaborations, with a total of 150+million impressions from Instagram, YouTube and blog campaigns to tell you that you’re not alone.

In this segment, we talk about the problems that you might be having and what solution you should be looking for. Our hope is that with these insights, you will save time, resources and solve your problem so you can make more revenue with your influencer marketing efforts.

  1. Your pain: You don’t have the manpower or capacity to do influencer marketing in-house.

Your solution: Influencer marketing agencies — or any agency that will execute an influencer campaign. This means that they take control of it all for you: the matching, managing, negotiating the prices, reporting back to you etc. You will essentially put your trust and control in the agency to do it all for you and just check in on a minimal basis.

PROS: You don’t have to deal with the influencers! It’s all taken care of and you get reports on a daily, weekly, biweekly or a monthly basis.

CONS: Lack of communication and direct relationship with the influencers. This could hurt you in the long run unless your agency and your company retain your relationship and have a good working cadence.

2. Your pain: You just need to build a wishlist of influencers.

Your solution: Influencer databases. You can identify these companies because they’ll have the words “API, machine learning, algorithm” in them. They are essentially scraping off of an API from Instagram, YouTube etc and then applying their own technology to sort and categorize these influencers.

You can also set up a spreadsheet and use the native apps to find these influencers.

WARNING: If they are deeply embedded into the Instagram API, the integrity of any influencer profiles will be inaccurate 3–6 months from today. Read about why.

PROS: You’ll get some fast answers and perhaps some are vetted from previous campaigns or work they’ve done.

CONS: The accuracy of these influencer profiles are going to be deeply compromised due to the API limitations that Instagram introduced in March 2018. You may be better off creating this wish-list by going onto Instagram, YouTube and finding them on your own.

Also, now that you have list — now what? The problem will be how to plug them into a campaign.

3. Your pain: You have influencers you’re working with already but you want scale and efficiency.
