The Windows platform frequently witnesses bigger updates several times each year. Now comes the official update of the Windows platform codenamed Project Neon as the Fluent Design.

Microsoft depicts the new Window Fluent design system using the below key features or as they term it — Foundational Elements.

  1. Light — Through light element Microsoft aims to attract attention towards the interface where it is required. A subtle highlight in the background color allows the users to focus on the change on the display of the device. While some of this feature is already available via Windows Store applications, you’ll see most of these features in the main interface in this update. This will enhance the intuitiveness of the already simplified Windows interface.
  2. Depth — This feature focuses on enhancing the multi-tasking experience of the users. It makes navigation from one window tab to another simple through a seamless and smooth animation, using the layering and bit mapping technologies.
  3. Motion — Through this feature Microsoft targets to add little animations that makes the long hours of exposure to the screen pleasant and easy on the eyes. Additionally, it reduces the stress on eyes, which is usually caused when a user zoom in and zoom out. The motion feature will help them to notice the changes on display when they zoom in and out, without putting pressure on their eyes to read or see the tiny unreadable texts. Furthermore, the Microsoft fluent design systems this feature will make navigation from one window to another easier and fluent.
  4. Material — This feature aims to give importance to the main window of the application while reducing the space for unnecessary features. With a better utilization of the screen space, the user can easily work even on devices with a small screen.
  5. Scale — The main purpose of the scale feature is to add functionality to a virtual reality realm without compromising on quality or the intuitiveness of the experience.
