From 2nd to 4th October Redgate ran a booth at Agile Cambridge which we also sponsored.

We love heading out to conferences and both sharing what we’ve learnt and speaking to the hundreds of attendees on their own experience of software development. At Agile Cambridge we ran a competition to celebrate 20 years of Redgate building Ingeniously Simple software and asked attendees what Ingeniously Simple meant to them. Below is a summary of the competition entries we had.

“Give it a go”

“Something that can be overlooked as basic”

“Making a complex task easy to do”

“making the extraordinary, ordinary” (We love this one)

“After you do it, you can’t believe you ever didn’t do it” (We love this one as well)

“Not having to think about it”

“Be simple, solve real problems and stay focused” (Amen to this)

“Maximum form and function with minimalist design”

“Something so simple that no one has ever thought about it before but would change the world” (We felt this one was brilliant)

“Something simple” (If only!)

“What it needs to be, no more”

“you don’t even realizing you are doing it and yet you are enjoying yourself” (This is how every job should feel! 😊 )

“Using a wealth of knowledge and insight lights the taper for a firework of an idea” (Explosive suggestion)

“As few words as possible”

“Easy software to use and apply to complex problems” (We like this one — and its very close to our existing definition)

“Making the mysterious become the ordinary”

We loved all of the entries to the competition and for everyone who entered they received a little piece of Redgate history with the presentation of these exclusive, not available on the Highstreet, desirable, Ingeniously Simple T-Shirts.

We’re still keen to hear from you on what Ingeniously Simple means to you. We’ll pick the best 3 entries via the comments on this Medium page and Twitter to decide. You have until Friday 25th October to enter!
