Adventures minting NFTs
In spite of the name, the non-fungible token (NFTs) universe is one of the technologies that is a blast to play with. Games are more entraining, digital trophies have more meaning, collecting and trading digital art has become a thing. For us at Avocado, it was the same as developers. Can you imagine how cool it feels to develop for NFTs rather than real estate tokenization or some boring ERC20 thing, that is not possible because of regulations?
Afters testing some water, buying some art, organizing a digital art contests to promote NFTs, helping a Football team, and thinking quite a bit, we wanted to make a special and unique project. Today one can get inspired by cryptopunks, all sorts of monkeys, space geckos, hashmaks. These are projects that had a lot of creativity, great teams and fantastic algorithmic art. However, we were looking for deeper, more emotional connection with the collectors. We decided not to use algorithmic art, while we really appreciate it, we wanted the art in this project to be 100% made by the skill and heart of talented artists.
Finally, one morning, the phone rings. It was Ray one of my partners at Avocado, he came up with an idea. Small but very ambitious, it required good artists, sort of competing against each other and at the same time collaborating in a larger more beautiful project. With the concept in mind and the ability to develop dapps, we, gulp, needed the artists.
At first we thought it may be as easy as to call some top design agencies and try to get them on board with the project. It was disheartening to have to explain NFTs to digital designers, who were very skeptical about anything blockchain, mostly from lack of understanding. While there were some interested parties, it was not enough for us to follow this path.
Finally, after fielding and making several calls about NFTs and not really getting anywhere. The strong co-producer partner we were looking for came to us. It was no other than the prestigious digital art Picnic Magazine. We agreed on our project, and they were able to get to the kind of artists we were looking for.
It was no easy task. First, we needed 12 artists, and these guys are talented, convincing them was quite a challenge. Most were very happy to join, others took more time to convince them. We had some rejections, again because of lack of understating of what an NFT is. Nevertheless, we found the artists we like. We know because this project has become quite personal for some of them.
Now we have a project with good, emotional art, a solid tech team working on the DApp. Let me tell you some details of our project. This is the first time some of this information will be released to the public.
Cryptoloteria
Cryptoloteria.mx is the first gamified NFT artistic initiative in Mexico and Latin America that favors traditional elements mixed with new aesthetics. Through the playful rules inspired in the traditional “la Loteria” game, collectors will be able to play a weekly game, where even rarer NFTs can be earned.

We are aware that there are few NFTs. We wish we could produce more so that every interested person could play, but this is a limited edition that took quite some effort and time to make.
