- OWOSENI DANIEL OREOLUWA

A student of the department of Physics and material science, Kwara State University Malete, Daniel Owoseni Oreoluwa declared to produce 24-hour electricity power supply for Nigeria with his recently invented electro locomotive generator.

In an interview with him, he said that the electro locomotive power generator is neither using Premium Motor Spirits (PMS) nor solar energy to produce electricity for human consumption.

Daniel, who is a member of the ingressive community, KWASU chapter, said he was prompted by the idea as a result of the problem faced by students of Kwara State University (KWASU) as regards the epileptic power supply in the just concluded academic session.

He however added that he got some parts of the idea from the popular saying in physics — “Energy can neither be created nor destroy but it can change from one form to another” — Adding that, that is the kind of energy this generator creates or recreates.

Speaking on the project with our reporter, he made it known that the generator neither uses petroleum nor oil; it generates its energy from the magnetic plate that slides over each other when the generator is in motion.

“In this process it generates energy and converts it to electricity that is why it is called electro locomotive generator”

“The generator produces 270volts Direct Current (DC) when it is in motion while generating about 1500watts Alternate current with the help of the battery. The Alternate Current (AC) in return recharges the battery as the generator is working.” he said.

According to him, “it took me 5 months, coupled with stress, frustrations, as well as a lot of financing for the project to be implemented and executed.

“Not enough time was given by my parents, at certain times they complained that I was not putting my time to good use, doing nothing; A lot of my friends would also say that “the project cannot turn out to be a good one” he lamented.

When asked about marketing plans for the generator, he said that he doesn’t have any target audience for now but that he is only looking on to God and the government intervention.

Also in his words, “I want to create 24-hour electricity power stability for my fellow Students, Malete indigenes and Nigeria as whole, but for me to fulfill this dream I need the intervention of the federal or state government and perhaps the private donors or investors on the project”

In conclusion, Daniel’s dedication, creativity and determination has led to an amazing invention. The problem of electricity has been a major thing every Nigerian household have been facing for decades, hopefully this electromotive generator is going to bring a new age of electricity access to Nigerians.
